So, what makes the Buyer Portal so unique? Let's take a closer look at the six key advantages.
Highlight #1: No e-wallet, just maximum control
The Ratepay Buyer Portal isn’t a conventional e-wallet. And that’s intentional. While e-wallets offer several well-known benefits, they often come with trade-offs concerning data protection and user experience.
That’s why our Buyer Portal takes a different approach:
- No registration with sensitive login credentials
- No storage of personal banking data
- No distractions due to third-party ads, upselling, or cross-selling
- No use of personal data for lead generation
In short: the Buyer Portal never interferes with the relationship between you and your customers. They stay fully immersed in your brand environment, managing only their purchases, payments, and returns from your shop.
Highlight #2: Full transparency across orders and payments
Customers can view all their orders placed in your shop, including due dates, bank details, and payment references. Even completed orders remain visible indefinitely.
If several orders are outstanding, your customers can view them separately and decide how and when to pay.
For this, Ratepay’s trusted payment methods – such as Open Invoice or SEPA Direct Debit – can be used. A built-in QR code enables easy and convenient payment via their preferred banking app without entering personal data.

If an open order includes multiple items, customers can select which ones to return before paying. The price of returned items is automatically deducted, and the payable amount is adjusted in real time, along with a new QR code.
We call this feature the Payment Calculator. And from now on it eliminates confusion, reduces unnecessary reminders, and prevents overpayments, boosting satisfaction and easing your customer service and accounting workload.
Especially in combination with open invoice purchase, your Payment Calculator offers your customers:

How it works:
Step 1: Customers select “Pay for selected items” in the Buyer Portal.
Step 2: They mark the items they wish to keep.
Step 3: The amount is automatically adjusted, and the customers scan the updated QR code to pay via their preferred banking app.
By the way, the Buyer Portal is also available in English. Your customers can seamlessly switch between languages as needed.

The Ratepay Buyer Portal works without traditional login credentials. When a payment is due, customers simply receive an email with a permanent, one-time link, which remains active even after payment.
The email and portal interface are fully branded in your shop’s look and feel. And additional security checks ensure protection against unauthorized access.
Best of all: There’s no need to share sensitive banking information either. Payments are processed securely via their own trusted bank.
